MAN IN VIRAL VIDEO

Arnold Padilla arrested over 'unlicensed' guns

Police on Friday arrested Arnold Padilla, the motorist who earned notoriety when video of him, his live-in partner and security aides confronting and hurting traffic enforcers went viral on the internet.

A report on Dobol B sa News TV by Mark Makalalad said Padilla will be brought to Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City.

The report said Padilla was brought out on a stretcher after his blood pressure shot up following his arrest.

Police arrested Padilla after they raided his house and apartment unit in Magallanes Village, Makati City, where several firearms and at least two grenades were found.

The report said Padilla was arrested over his unlicensed firearms and not because of the traffic violation and the confrontation with traffic enforcers.

Interviewed on Dobol B sa News TV, National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Guillermo Eleazar said Padilla's license to own guns was revoked in April after he submitted fake drug test results.

Eleazar, who was present during the raid, said Padilla had asked to be brought to a hospital in Quezon City but he ordered that the suspect be brought to Camp Bagong Diwa instead.

Viral video

Padilla, his live-in partner and bodyguards hit the headlines earlier this month after they were caught on CCTV verbally and physically abusing the traffic enforcers who flagged them down for beating the red light.

The footage was taken on the afternoon of August 13 at the corner of Gate 1 of Magallanes Village and EDSA.

Long list of complaints

Earlier reports said barangay records showed that the August 13 incident was just the latest in the long list of blotter complaints against Padilla.

In a blotter entry dated April 30, 2015, a village security guard narrated that Padilla spat at him, insulted and threatened him when he responded to a commotion that involved Padilla’s group in the village.

Aside from village guards, barangay officials also noted several threats issued by Padilla and his group against fellow residents.

Arnold Padilla was a primary suspect in the death of his sister Yvonne Chua, who died after a “gift” which contained five hand grenades exploded in her residence in Taguig on December 29, 2010. Her six-year-old child was also wounded in the incident.
