MRT-3 delayed due to maintenance vehicle accident


The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has announced a delay in the insertion and deployment of trains due to an accident involving MRT-3 maintenance vehicles early Wednesday morning.

In a statement, the agency said the accident occurred at 3 a.m.

Mark Makalalad of Super Radyo's DZBB reported that commuters were lined up at the Quezon Avenue station as early as 5:15 a.m.

 

 

Two unimogs or maintenance service vehicles accidentally collided between Buendia and Guadalupe stations while doing maintenance service on its power system and the tracks.

The agency also said that "As of 4:20 a.m., the incident was already cleared and the unimogs involved were already returning to the depot."

It added that "due to the accident, the insertion of trains which usually begins at 4:30a.m. only started at 5:30a.m. We apologize for the inconvenience."

By 6 a.m., eight trains have been deployed and passenger operations have started.

Additional MRT-3 augmentation buses were deployed by DOTr's Road Sector, together with LTFRB, MMDA, HPG, LTO (i-ACT) to assist affected passengers.

MRT3 update as of 6:40 a.m., 14 trains operational and 14 trains are running with the first revenue train now at the Taft Station north bound. The headway or time between trains is 7 minutes. — BAP, GMA News
