Minor, 3 others nabbed for playing fruit game machines, video karera

A minor and three other individuals were arrested on Saturday after they were caught playing on illegal betting machines in Las Piñas, according to John Consulta’s report on “24 Oras Weekend.”

Police also arrested the operators of the video karera and fruit game machines. The operators used a storefront to hide their illegal activities.

The raid was conducted after the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) intensified operations against illegal gambling machines.

“Unang-una ang mga biktima nito ay mga bata. And I’ve been receiving reports. no, from the parents na isa sa dahilan na hindi pumapasok o hindi na nagmo-module ‘yung mga bata is dahil din dito,” NCRPO chief General Vic Danao said.

To prevent its return to the community, authorities destroyed 65 machines.

“Meron tayong representative from the Hall of Justice sa court para patunayan talaga na ito ay nakuhang makina, gumagana, may laman, may motherboard,” Police Lieutenant Colonel Rodel Pastor, Las Piñas Police chief, said.

The arrested individuals declined to comment.

Meanwhile, authorities will give the boxes of coins from the machines to the Department of Social Welfare and Development.

“One strike policy, wala tayong sasantuhin diyan. Apat na ‘yung na-relieve natin sa buong NCR. Pagmakakadalawang substation tayo, the next chief of police, pagdalawang chief of police, the district director will be relieved,” Danao said. — Joahna Lei Casilao/DVM, GMA News
