UPAA honors GMA Network's Felipe Gozon, Jessica Soho


MANILA, Philippines - Atty. Felipe L. Gozon, chief executive officer and chairman of GMA Network Inc, and Jessica Soho, vice president of GMA News and Public Affairs, were honored during the University of the Philippines’ Centennial Alumni Homecoming held on Saturday, June 21. Mr Gozon and Ms Soho were among the 61 awardees that included Chief Justice Reynato Puno, who was honored as UP’s most distinguished alumnus. Their achievements were recognized by the UP Alumni Association (UPAA) during the event at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City. Mr Gozon received an award on behalf of the Lapuz-Gozon family whose members up to the third generation studied in UP. Mr Gozon graduated in UP with a Bachelor of Laws degree. He finished his Masters of Law degree at the Yale University. He had received several recognitions, which included the 2004 CEO of the Year award from the UNO Magazine, the 2004 Master Entrepreneur award from the SGV/Ernst & Young, and the Asia Magazine’s 2005 People of the Year award. Meanwhile, Ms Soho received an award under the UPAA’s communication and information category. She is a veteran and an award-winning journalist, who was a student in UP of the late legendary broadcast journalist Louie Beltran. Ms Soho was one of the 100 Filipino Women of Distinction honored during the Philippine centennial celebration. She also received a Ka Doroy Valencia award from the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas. She is also the first Filipino who won an award under the New York Film Festival's coverage of a breaking story category for her story on the hostage crisis in Cagayan Valley. The George Foster Peabody Award likewise honored Ms Soho for her documentaries on “Kidneys for Sale" and the “Kamao Death Sport." She currently hosts the informative news and public affairs television show “Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho," aired every Saturday night. - GMANews.TV
