Pagasa: 'Gener' leaves RP, now over South China Sea

MANILA, Philippines - Tropical depression "Gener" is now over the South China Sea and continues to move away from Philippine territory, state weather forecasters said Saturday morning. In its 10:45 a.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said "Gener" was 660 kilometers (km) west-southwest of Iba, Zambales as of 10 a.m. Pagasa said "Gener" packed maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and was moving west-northwest at 17 kph. By Sunday morning, "Gener" will be 890 km west-northwest of Iba, Zambales or 920 km west-southwest of Laoag City. Pagasa said that even if "Gener" was already moving away from the Philippines, it would still enhance the southwest monsoon and bring rains over the western section of Southern Luzon and Western Visayas. - GMANews.TV
