PNP ‘one-stop-shop’ to rise in Camp Crame

MANILA, Philippines – A multi-storey building that will house services provided by the National Police will soon be established in Camp Crame. PNP Director General Avelino Razon and Interior secretary Ronaldo Puno on Wednesday led police officials in ground breaking ceremonies for construction of the PNP Service Plaza. "This building is a symbol of the new spirit of public service," Puno described the facility. The facility will be located along the EDSA perimeter of Camp Crame and will be accessible to the public from the Santolan station of the Metro Rail Transit. It will rise to be a one-stop-shop office that will cater to the requirements of individuals and entities transacting business with the PNP. Services provided in the facility will include police clearance, gun licenses and permits, motor vehicle clearance, security guard licenses, benefit claims for retirees, recruitment processing, and complaints referral. Designed with the convenience of a shopping mall, the Service Plaza is essentially a government office that provides frontline public service, Razon remarked. "As a frontline office that directly interacts with the public clientele, the PNP Service Plaza is the show window of the whole organization," Razon said. Construction of the eight-storey building will take at least 12 months, Razon added. - Sophia Dedace, GMANews.TV
