P680K lost in LPG station robbery - report

MANILA, Philippines - At least 15 armed men took some P680,000 in cash and valuables in a robbery of a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) refilling station in Pasay City Saturday midnight. Radio dzBB's Manny Vargas reported that the men, armed with M-16, Uzi and other high-powered firearms, arrived aboard a gray Toyota Revo and a green Mitsubishi Adventure. The men robbed the Island Gas refilling station at 2933 Apelo Cruz Street in Pasay City, and also victimized three taxi drivers who were having their LPG tanks refilled there. Sketchy initial reports showed that once the men's vehicles entered the compound, they disarmed the two security guards and declared a robbery. The report said the suspects used a sledgehammer to open the vault. Aside from the P675,000 cash, they also took cell phones and earnings of the three taxi drivers. In a bid to make sure they were not followed, the men took the keys to the three taxicabs. The men, who were wearing masks, finished the robbery in 20 minutes. Police in Pasay and Makati cities are now coordinating to check if the suspects had been linked to recent robberies in southern Metro Manila. A separate report on dzRH radio said the men were described as wearing police uniforms and introduced themselves as lawmen. - GMANews.TV
