MTRCB gives final ‘X’ rating to Erap biopic
Itâs final. The video documentary of former President Joseph Estrada will not air anymore in any television station. This, as the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) gave the 57-minute documentary its final âX" rating Monday night, which automatically prohibits its public exhibition. Last week, the MTRCB gave Estrada's documentary titled âTo Live for the Masses" an âXXX" rating for being âlibelous" and âdetrimental to political stability." In its evening newscast, QTV-11 television said four of five members of the MTRCB committee that viewed the documentary Monday voted against its airing because of âlibelous" and âpolitically destabilizing" portions. Earlier, the MTRCB suggested that it would allow the airing of the documentary, but only if two-thirds of the documentary were cut. Estrada's camp rejected this. âIt doesn't call for action. It was a narration of facts. We don't see anything libelous, we don't see anything offensive about it," QTV-11 television quoted Estrada's lawyer-spokesman Rufus Rodriguez as saying Monday night. Rodriguez said that with the MTRCB decision, the Estrada camp said it will have no recourse but to bring the matter before the Court of Appeals. On the other hand, Estrada's website (erap.ph) continues to make the new documentary available for download as a wmv (Windows Video) format file. -GMANews.TV
