Probe on leak of Arroyo ‘boob job’ not a Palace order - NBI

MANILA, Philippines - The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) on Tuesday denied that its investigation into a leak on President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's "boob job" has stemmed from a Malacañang order. NBI director Nestor Mantaring said it was the hospital itself, the Asian Hospital and Medical Center, which had requested for the probe. "The Asian Hospital in Muntinlupa City requested for investigative assistance to determine the possible administrative liability of any of its employees for the leakage," Mantaring said. NBI operatives on Monday took the statements of the hospital employees who have access to President Arroyo’s medical bulletin and records as they tried to identify the source of the leak. Mantaring said the person or persons behind the leak could be charged administratively since the act was in violation of the code of conduct for medical practitioners. “Medical records and bulletin should not be divulged without the prior consent of the patient. So we are investigating the source of the leakage and how the files were able to be downloaded from the hospital computers and leaked these," he said. Press Secretary Cerge Remonde admitted last Friday that President Arroyo had breast augmentation 20 years ago after an abscess was removed from her breast. He said a biopsy of the President’s breasts and groin turned negative for any illness. News of the implant came out last week after President Arroyo was discharged from the hospital where she underwent self-quarantine for possible A(H1N1) infection and a gynecological checkup. - GMANews.TV
