PLM opens facilities for Cory supporters

The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) suspended its classes Tuesday to open up some of its facilities to the thousands who continue to flock former president Corazon Aquino's wake at the Manila Cathedral. "Due to the number of people attending the wake of President Cory at the Manila Cathedral, as a public service measure, PLM will open its clinic to the public for emergency cases and the use of its restroom and canteen facilities," PLM president Adel Tamano said in a text message. "We have suspended classes to allow our students to pay their respects to the late president," Tamano added. Tamano said the use of clinic and restrooms will be free of charge. The remains of Mrs. Aquino, who passed away early Saturday due to a cardiorespiratory attack after battling colon cancer for more than a year, were brought to the Manila Cathedral Monday afternoon after a Mass at the La Salle Greenhills in Mandaluyong City. Mrs. Aquino's cortege was met by thousands of supporters who lined the streets to get a glimpse of, and show their support for, the late democracy icon. After a 9 a.m. Mass on Wednesday, Mrs. Aquino's body will be brought to the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City for interment. - Johanna Camille Sisante, GMANews.TV
