‘Labuyo’ changes course; 2 areas under Signal 1
At least two areas were placed under Storm Signal No. 1 Friday as tropical storm "Labuyo" (international code name Dujuan) changed course and is now moving northeast. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said "Labuyo" was located 620 km east of Tuguegarao City as of 4 a.m. Areas under signal number 1 were the provinces of Cagayan and Isabela in northern Philippines. "Cagayan and Isabela will experience rains and gusty winds while southern Luzon and Visayas will have monsoon rains. The rest of the country will be cloudy with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms," Pagasa said in its 5 a.m. bulletin. Pagasa said Labuyo packed maximum winds of 75 kph near center and gustiness of up to 90 kph. It added that Labuyo was moving northeast at 9 kph and is expected to be 780 km east of Tuguegarao City Saturday morning. By Sunday morning, it is expected to be 1,050 km east northeast of Tuguegarao City or 970 km east of Basco, Batanes. On Monday morning, it is expected to be 1,200 km east northeast of Basco, Batanes.
