GMA, QTV, dzBB shows bag awards in 31st CMMA

Eight programs from GMA Network, QTV and GMA's official AM radio station dzBB on Wednesday night received eight awards in the 31st Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA) held in Makati City. GMA 7’s Wish Ko Lang was elevated to the CMMA Hall of Fame after having won the Best Public Service TV Program four times. “Four awards in the past seven years, it’s really something to thank God for, kaya nagpapasalamat kami (that is why we are very thankful). We want to grant more wishes," said Wish Ko Lang host and Saksi news anchor Vicky Morales. An I-Witness documentary about children who swim miles to go to school, “Batang Langoy," won the Best Adult Educational/Cultural TV Program.
“Magpapatuloy pa rin ang aming ginagawa na pagdodokumento sa buhay ng ating mga kababayan at magpapatuloy ang inspirasyon sa paggawa ng makabuluhang dokyumentaryo," said I-Witness host Jay Taruc. (We will continue to make documentaries on the lives of our fellow Filipinos, and the inspiration to make meaningful documentaries will continue.) GMA 7’s Sunday musical variety show SOP meanwhile won Best Entertainment TV Program while morning talk show Sis won Best TV Talk Show. Also among the winners are QTV 11’s Kids on Q, which won Best Children’s Program, and Reunions, which bagged the Best Public Service Program award. Programs aired over GMA Network’s radio station DZBB were also given recognition. Nagmamahal, Manay Gina was named Best Drama Radio Program while Talk to Papa got the Best Counseling Radio Program award. Catholic Church officials also posthumously gave the CMMA "Serviam" award to former President Corazon Aquino during the awards night. The CMMA, which is composed of bishops, is considered as one of the most credible award-giving bodies in the Philippines. CMMA aims to “reward, as well as to pay tribute to media products that enhance the total human development of the Filipino audience through the competent and professional use of mass media techniques." - GMANews.TV
