CHR to probe ‘inhumane’ treatment of Jason Ivler
The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) will look into the alleged inhumane treatment murder suspect Jason Ivler experienced in the hands of government agents. âOur NCR [National Capital Region] office will investigate alleged human rights violation against Jason Ivler. The focus will be on the issue of proper handling or treatment of an arrested suspect," CHR chair Leila de Lima said Thursday in a text message to GMANews.TV. A memorandum has already been issued to the CHR-NCR office directing them to start the investigation, De Lima said. Ivlerâs mother, Marlene Aguilar, claimed her son was âtreated like a pig" by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) who arrested him in the basement of her Quezon City house Monday morning. In a television interview last Wednesday, Aguilar said her friend, Becka Padilla, saw a video footage of the alleged harassment of Ivler on video-sharing site YouTube. Marlene said she had not seen the video yet.
