UP grad tops 3,973 CPA licensure exam passers


A University of the Philippines-Diliman (UPD) graduate topped the over 3,900 passers of this year’s Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure examination, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced Monday. Of the 8,216 examinees, only 3,973 or roughly 48 percent passed the licensure exam given early this month in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo and Legazpi. [CLICK HERE FOR COMPLETE LIST OF CPA LICENSURE EXAMINATION PASSERS.] UP-Diliman graduate Raymund Siegfrid Li topped the successful examinees with 96.57 percent, followed by Alvin Jay Perdio of the Bataan Peninsula State-College-Balanga (96.29) and Solaida Lui, also of UPD (95.71). Myrrylyn Chrysanthemum Estomo (UPD) – 94 Reena Shayne Gonzales (Holy Angel University) – 94 Stephen Ray Taguba (UST) – 94 The top performing schools with 50 or more examinees and with at least 80 percent passing rate are UP-Diliman (98.82), UST (92.23), Bicol University (85.96) and Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (81.48). Some 1,100 takers meanwhile were classified as conditioned examinees, or those who either failed to get a weighted average grade of at least 75 in all the subjects taken, or have a grade lower than 65 in any of the subjects taken, but got a grade of at least 75 and above in at least four board subjects. Conditioned examinees must take their removal subjects within two years from the date of the examination, or they shall be considered to have failed the licensure exam. The exam was administered by the Board of Accountancy, which included Eugene Mateo as chair, Ma. Elenita Cabrera as vice chair, and Luis Cañete, Rufo Mendoza and Jose Tayag, Jr. as members. Registration for the issuance of Professional Identification Card (ID) and Certificate of Registration will start on October 22, and will last until November 16, the PRC said. Those who will register are required to bring the following: duly accomplished Oath Form or Panunumpa ng Propesyonal, current Community Tax Certificate (cedula), 2 pieces passport size picture (colored with white background and complete nametag), two pieces 1" x 1" picture (colored with white background and complete nametag), two sets of metered documentary stamps, and a short brown envelope with name and profession; and to pay the Initial Registration Fee of P600 and Annual Registration Fee of P450 for 2010-2013. The PRC also reminded successful examinees to personally register and sign in the Roster of Registered Professionals. The oath-taking ceremony of the successful examinees in this year’s exam, as well as the previous exams who have not taken their Oath of Professional, will be held before the Board on November 26 at 1:00 p.m. at the Plenary Hall of the Philippine International Convention Center, Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City.
