DepEd chief thanks parents, partners in school cleanup


Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Armin Luistro on Tuesday expressed his gratitude to the parents and partners taking part in the cleanup of schools in time for the opening of classes on June 6. Luistro posted his message of thanks on the DepEd's Twitter account on Tuesday morning, a day after he helped sprucec up a public school in Quezon City. "Maraming, maraming, maraming salamat po," the Twitter message read, adding that it was addressed to the "hundreds of partners who continue to support Brigada Eskwela." On Monday, Luistro took part in the bayanihan effort to clean up the Bago Bantay Elementary School in Quezon City for the start of the school year on June 6. In a separate Twitter message at the time, he said he was heartened over the volunteerism and selflessness of those involved in the weeklong cleanup. "Ang isa sa mga pinakamagandang nangyayari sa Brigada Eskwela ay ang kusang loob na pagtulong ng iba't ibang sektor," he said. The Brigada Eskwela is a weeklong cleanup effort to help pupils have a clean and healthy school environment when the new school year starts. - VVP, GMA News
