3 hurt in bus accident in Quezon City

Three people were reported injured in a bus accident along Regalado Avenue in Quezon City early Tuesday. The drivers of both buses blamed each other for the accident involving a Safeway and a Universal Guiding Star bus, radio dzBB's Manny Vargas reported. Incidentally, a Universal Guiding Star bus was involved in the road accident along Commonwealth Avenue also in Quezon City that killed journalist Chit Estella on May 13.

The report said the three passengers — initially identified as Christopher Torres, Nelson Ogoy, and Hercules Mapa — were rushed to a nearby hospital. All three were from the Safeway bus, the same radio report said. An initial report showed the Safeway bus driven by Vicente Calagui hit the Universal Guiding Star bus driven by Arnold Manuel. Manuel claimed Calagui may have fallen asleep at the wheel, even as Calagui denied the allegations. Instead, Calagui claimed the bus driven by Manuel suddenly stopped at a portion of Regalado Avenue. It was the latest bus-related accident this week, after a Saulog bus crashed into an 18-wheeler truck along the North Luzon Expressway last Saturday. At least three people were killed and 21 hurt in last weekend's incident. — RSJ, GMA News
