Weather: Rain looms over southern Luzon, Visayas

Scattered rain showers and thunderstorms loom over the eastern sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas for the next 24 hours, state weather forecasters said Sunday afternoon. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said this is due to moderate to strong northeasterly surface windflow over northern Luzon and the eastern parts of central and southern Luzon. "The eastern sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms," it said in its 5 p.m. bulletin. It added the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. PAGASA also said moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and Eastern Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the northeast with slight to moderate seas. Meanwhile, PAGASA indicated the weather may remain warm in Metro Manila until at least Thursday, from 24 to 33 degrees Celsius. Its extended weather forecast until Nov. 24 indicated partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms. - KBK, GMA News
