1 killed, 4 hurt in freak car accident in QC

One person was killed while four others — one of them a two-year-old child — were injured in a freak predawn car accident near a bank branch in Quezon City Monday. The victims were sleeping outside the bank branch when the out-of-control car hit them before it crashed into the wall, radio dzBB's Rodil Vega reported. The incident occurred at a bank branch near the Mabuhay Rotonda at the boundary of Manila and Quezon City, the report said. Police took into custody the driver of the red Hyundai car (TLZ-972) that crashed into the wall. The driver was initially identified as a certain Christian Lim. Lim had two female passengers in his car at the time of the accident, the report said. Investigators are verifying Lim's claim he was trying to avoid hitting a taxi when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into the bank branch's wall. The report initially identified the fatality as one Emmanuel Maning. On the other hand, the four injured were rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center. One of the injured was a two-month-old child, the report said. — RSJ, GMA News
