PAGASA: Expect warm afternoons in Metro Manila despite amihan

Residents in Metro Manila can still expect afternoons to be warm despite the entry of amihan (northeast monsoon), state weather forecasters said Thursday.

 

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) also said flash floods and landslides still threaten parts of Luzon.

 

"Metro Manila may be warm  in the afternoon. It may be cloudy in the morning with cool winds, but the temperature may go up in the afternoon," PAGASA forecaster Gener Quitlong said in an interview on dzBB radio.

 

He said that for Thursday, Metro Manila's temperature range may be between 24 and 32 degrees Celsius.

 

PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin said the northeast monsoon is still prevailing over Northern and Central Luzon.

 

"Northern and Central Luzon will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers becoming cloudy with widespread rain over the eastern section which may trigger flash floods and landslides," it said.

 

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, it added.  — LBG, GMA News
