Aquino arrives in Cavite for PNPA graduation rites

President Benigno Aquino III arrived Saturday morning at the Philippine National Police Academy at Camp Mariano Castañeda in Silang, Cavite, for its 33rd graduation rites. Aquino, the guest of honor at the graduation rites, received honors shortly after arriving at 10 a.m., government-run dzRB radio reported. He trooped the lines at the rites where 220 members of the PNP's Sinagtala Class will graduate. The PNPA was established under Section 19 of Presidential Decree 1184 and became a primary component of the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC). It was created to provide education and training of the three bureaus of the Department of the Interior and Local Government – the PNP, Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology. The PNPA aims to develop cadets into public safety service officers with professional competence, management leadership skills, and sound moral character. Other officials expected to join Aquino included Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo, PNP chief Director General Nicanor Bartolome, PNPA director Senior Superintendent Nestor Fajura, and Philippine Public Safety College President Ruben Platon. — LBG, GMA News
