Meralco: 1-hour power outages to hit Metro Manila, nearby provinces

Citing "limited" power supplies, power distributor Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) on Friday announced one-hour rotating brownouts in Metro Manila and nearby provinces it is servicing. Meralco's Dina Lomotan said the one-hour rotating power outages for the day are scheduled from 10 to 11 a.m., and from 1 to 2 p.m. "Magkakaroon ng brownout sa ilang residential, commercial at industrial customers," she said in an interview on dzBB radio. The announcement came a day after the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) went on yellow alert due to low power reserves for Luzon.
