CBCP head urges PNoy to give real condition of PHL in SONA

Saying it is important for the people to know the truth, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) urged President Benigno Aquino III to present the real condition of the Philippines in his third State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 23.

“We only seek for the truth. We aspire for the good of the many,” CBCP President Archbishop Jose Palma said in an interview aired on church-run Radyo Veritas.

The Cebu prelate is also hoping PNoy’s SONA will serve as an inspiration to Filipinos.

“Siguro sa aspekto ng mga obispo and on a personal note, sasabihin sana ni President Aquino ay makapagbigay sana ng truth, iyong real situation ng ating bansa. Pangalawa, iyong makapagbibigay ng inspirasyon sa ating bansa,” he said.

Archbishop Palma revealed the CBCP is praying that the Holy Spirit will guide the administration so it can do what is right for the country.

“We pray that gaya ng ina-assure natin sa ating mga leaders na he will be inspired by the Holy Spirit to really think and plan for the good of our country,” the archbishop said.

He added that he is confident that the government will find solutions to the country’s problems with the help of every Filipino.

“Marami pang problem at concerns. But when we solicit the cooperation of the many who have the competence and we encourage people to collaborate and work together ay makapagbigay tayo ng solusyon sa karamihan nating problema,” he added. –KG, GMA News
