PNoy promises to fix NAIA 3 before next SONA

President Benigno Aquino III on Monday promised to fix the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) before his next State of the Nation Address (SONA), and create more roads and airports before his term ends in 2016.   "Pang-apat na Pangulo na po akong sasalo sa problema ng NAIA 3,” he said in his third SONA since he took office in 2010. Aquino also promised to build the new Bohol Airport in Panglao, New Legaspi Airport in Daraga and the Laguindingan Airport in Misamis Oriental before the end of his term.   He said the government will also upgrade the international airports in Mactan, Puerto Princesa, and Tacloban and improve those in Butuan, Cotabato, Dipolog, Pagadian, Tawi-Tawi, Southern Leyte, and San Vicente in Palawan.   He said there are also plans to expand the runway of the Caticlan Airport, the main gateway to Boracay island, which was recently voted one of the world’s top tourist destinations.   In the capital, Aquino said the government is in the process of executing the plans for the LRT Line 1 Cavite Extension project. This is expected to ease traffic in Las Piñas, Parañaque, and Cavite in the southern border of metropolitan Manila. Aquino said before he steps down from office, the government would have built terminals for provincial buses passing through Taguig, Quezon City, and Parañaque. – Kimberly Jane Tan/YA, GMA News
