More areas suspended classes in Metro Manila and nearby provinces on August 8, with many parts still flooded due to continuous monsoon rains in past days. Areas with no classes in all levels in the National Capital Region include:

Many schools, along with gymnasiums and chapels, are being used as centers for evacuation as well as relief operations. The Department of Education on Tuesday night belied supposed "news updates" claiming it and the Commission on Higher Education had suspended classes up to Friday, August 10. Both agencies follow a new Malacañang guideline which leaves class suspensions up to local government units.

As early as Tuesday morning, LGUs such as the Marikina City government announced the suspension of classes for Wednesday. By Tuesday afternoon, Parañaque and Muntinlupa also announced the suspension of classes for Wednesday. — Carmela Lapeña/RSJ, GMA News
