MMDA: Trucks carrying food items exempt from truck ban on Friday

Trucks carrying food items will be exempt from the truck ban in Metro Manila on Friday, announced the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on its Twitter account Thursday evening. "ADVISORY: Truck Ban is lifted tomorrow, Friday, August 10, for all trucks carrying food items," it said. NCR residents are still reeling from days of heavy rain and floods that forced the suspension of classes and work this week. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC)'s 5 p.m. report indicated at least 19 people killed by the flooding to date. MMDA's truck ban ordinarily bans trucks from using major thoroughfares from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. every day except Sundays and holidays. - BM, GMA News
