Witness vs Dennis Roldan killed in 'shootout'

A witness who implicated actor and former congressman Dennis Roldan to a kidnapping case was killed in an anti-carjacking operation in Quezon City last week. Quoting excerpts of the QC police's spot report, GMA News' Unang Balita said victim Albert Pagdanganan sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head during an alleged encounter with lawmen on January 11. Pagdangan, who had earlier claimed receiving orders from Roldan (Mitchell Gumabao in real life) for the kidnapping, was onboard a white Mitsubishi L300 van when he and a companion crossed paths with the police. Chief Inspector Clemente Barcena, QCPD homicide chief, said in Filipino that, "they caught up with him in Bonifacio, he went around towards Quirino Highway, then he was trapped somewhere near Baesa village." "Police took the vehicle into the complound, that's where the encounter took place," Barcena added. According to the spot report, "they (Pagdanganan) traded successive shots with the responding policemen thereby forcing them (police) to return fire." Pagdanganan's companion was able to escape. QC police denied knowing that it was Pagdanganan whom they engaged. When the victim's wife came to claim the body, she identified Pagdanganan as Albert Naguit. Pagdanganan is one of two suspects who accused Roldan of masterminding the kidnap of a Chinese-Filipino child in February 2005. He had confessed participation in the crime. His relatives in Apalit, Pampanga were tight-lipped about incident when asked they were asked to comment during his wake in the same town. - GMANews.TV
