Suicide at EDSA station limits operations of LRT Line 1

The Light Rail Transit Line 1 was forced to limit its operations before dawn Thursday, after a woman committed suicide at one of its stations.

LRT Authority spokesman Hernando Cabrera said the incident occurred at 5:50 a.m. at the LRT-1's Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) station.

"Operations (are limited) from Central to Roosevelt and back only. No trips from Baclaran to Central and back," he said on his Twitter account.
In a separate interview on dzBB radio, Cabrera said the woman jumped into the tracks and was hit by one of the northbound trains.

"Hindi lang tinamaan, talagang nasagasaan (She was hit by the train)," he said.

The LRT-1 connects Roosevelt in Quezon City to Baclaran in southern Metro Manila. The Central station is in Manila, near City Hall.
On Wednesday night, the LRT Line 2's operations were disrupted after one of the trains had a problem connecting to the power lines. The problem was fixed after nearly two hours. — ELR, GMA News
