Palace announces appointment of new judges, PSTC directors


Malacañang on Saturday announced the appointment of new judges and board of directors of the Philippine National Oil Company-Shipping and Transport Corp. (PSTC). Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said the PSTC board members will serve until next year. A Palace statement said the six new members of the PSTC are:

- Rogelio Guadalquiver - Potenciano Larrazabal Jr. - Nicanor Sering - Democrito Barcenas - Bob Gothong - Victor Ziga
"They will serve at the PSTC board until June 30, 2013," the Malacañang statement said. Last year, Aquino appointed lawyer Democrito Barcenas as Director and Architect Enrique Manalang as President/CEO of PSTC. New judges Malacañang also announced the appointment of new judges for the Regional Trial Courts and Municipal Circuit Trial Courts in Mindanao. They are:
- Judge Edwin Malazarte, Regional Trial Court Branch 27, Tandag, Surigao del Sur - Judge Rufo Naragas, RTC Branch 40, Tandag, Surigao Del Sur - Judge Lorenzo Balo, RTC Branch 24, Koronadal, South Cotabato - Judge Renato Tampac, RTC Branch 25, Koronadal, South Cotabato - Judge Ali Balindong, RTC Branch 21, Kapatagan, Lanao Del Norte - Judge Arvin Sadiri Balagot, RTC Branch 17, Kidapawan, North Cotabato - Judge Marie Estrellita Tolentino-Rojas, Municipal Trial Court in Cities, Branch 2, Davao City, Davao Del Sur - Judge Robert Gonzaga, Municipal Circuit Trial Court, Malimono-San Francisco, Surigao Del Norte - Judge Gila Dela Banda, Municipal Trial Court, Makilala-Tulunan, North Cotabato
Valte said the Office of the President has transmitted the appointment of the new judges to Chief Justice Ma. Lourdes Sereno. The announcement came following a statement from Judicial and Bar Council member Jose Mejia that Sereno has particularly raised her concerns over some 300 pending appointments in the lower courts, which aggravates clogged court dockets.
