Miriam rolls out new pick-up lines a day after tense hearing

A day after chairing a tense Senate panel hearing on allegations against resigned Interior Undersecretary Rico Puno, Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago on Saturday turned comic again with new pick-up lines that were met with cheers and happy hoots from her mostly coillege-age audience. She opened her keynote speech at a gathering organized by a pro-RH bill group at UP Diliman, Quezon City, with several one-liners that have become unforgettable punctuations in the senator's speaking engagements. Here is the newest batch of "pick-up" lines from the feisty senator: “Sana birthday candle ka na lang, para habang pinapatay kita, pumapalakpak sila.” "Pumupunta ka ba sa gym? Kasi feeling ko, magwo-work out tayo." "Ang pagmamahal ko sa iyo parang bilbil. Pilit ko man tinatago, halata pa rin." "Alam mo ba kung saan gawa ang t-shirt ko? Gawa ito sa boyfriend material." "May bakery ba ang magulang mo? Kasi isa kang cutie pie." "Cashier ka ba? Kasi mukha kang bayaran." "Sabi nila, a picture is worth a thousand words. Pero noong nakita ko ang picture mo, tatlong words lang naisip ko: I love you." "Wala naman talagang pangit, sadyang nasobrahan lang ako sa ganda." "Kung kasalanan ang maging maganda, huwag kang mag-alala, wala kang kasalanan." Her jokes stood in contrast to the tense Senate hearing on Friday when Santiago grilled Puno about various issues raised against him. These include Puno's "unatuhorized" attempt to enter the condominium unit of the late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo a day after the he died in a plane crash; Puno's alleged role in the controversial purchase of high-powered pistols for the Philippine National Police, and his alleged involvement in the illegal numbers game jueteng. Despite being dissatisfied with Puno's answers, Santiago decided to discontinue probing him. — LBG, GMA News
