Jinkee Pacquiao to seek elective post in 2013 polls

Jinkee Pacquiao, wife of Filipino boxing icon and incumbent Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao, will try her luck in politics in the 2013 elections. In a phone interview Tuesday, Pacquiao's public relations officer Rose Tamayo said Jinkee will run for vice governor in Sarangani. She will be the running-mate of incumbent Sarangani vice governor Steve Chiongbian Solon, who is gunning for the province’s top post next year. “Sabi ni Ma’am Jinkee, ang nag-udyok sa kanya tumakbo ay ‘yung kagustuhan niyang makatulong sa mga kababayan niya. Gusto niya rin tulungan ‘yung asawa niya sa mga programa para sa mga mahihirap,” Tamayo said.   Both Pacquiao and Jinkee filed their certificates of candidacy Tuesday at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office at the provincial capitol. Pacquiao will seek re-election next year.   Meanwhile, Pacquiao’s youngest brother, Rogelio, will once again run as representative of General Santos.   The younger Pacquiao first tried his luck during the 2007 polls, but lost to Darlene Antonino-Custodio. — Andreo C.
