Candidates' quotes of the day: Of dynasties, Valentine's Day, and being like Kara David

Given only five minutes each, five senatorial candidates on Monday laid out their platforms and stand on various issues — from political dynasties to Valentine's Day to TV hosting jobs — on GMA News TV's "News To Go" program. Want to know who likens political dynasties to cholesterol? Who wants to be like Kara David? Who appreciates the countryside during political sorties? Read on. On provision in Constitution prohibiting political dynasties: "Sinasabi nilang mayroong good dynasty, mayroong bad dynasty. Hindi naman ho cholesterol iyan, na may bad cholesterol and good cholesterol." On education as platform: "Habang ang tao may edukasyon, may pagkakataon siyang umangat sa buhay. On Valentine's Day: "Ako'y biyudo na, magsasaya lang siguro kasama 'yung aking mga estudyante, magle-lecture ako, kailangan iyon, that is Valentine's to them." Former Manila counselor Greco Belgica, Democratic Party of the Philippines, On himself: "I am the youngest candidate." (He will turn 35 in March.) On plans after elections: "'Pag hindi ako manalo, mag-aaral akong maging TV host katulad ninyo (Kara David)." Zambales Rep. Mitos Magsaysay, United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) On ties with former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo: "Hindi ako balimbing. On Arroyo's cases: "If cases are filed against her (Arroyo) in court, they should give her due process. And if she's guilty, she has to pay for it." On Ramon Magsaysay Jr's candidacy: "What's nice is that our family is campaigning for both because under the automated elections, hindi naman po pinipigilan ang taongbayan na bumuto sa dalawang Magsaysay." On pork barrel: "A lot of people use pork barrel but get half of it. That's why there are cases filed against them." On sorties: "A good thing about campaigning is that you get to see how beautiful the country is." Sen. Antonio Trillantes IV, Nacionalista Party On rift with Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile: "Hindi naman necessarily nang-aaway, ako lang, mayroon lang akong paniniwala na mas ikabubuti para sa bansa kung mayroon tayong bagong Senate president." On what makes him laugh: "Outside the public view, masayahin ako." Tarlac Gov. Tingting Cojuangco, UNA On relationship with Pnoy: "Nagte-text pa rin kami." On Bangsamoro Framework Agreement: "It's not yet an achievement because it's not yet done." On Filipino Muslims: "The Muslims now lacks schools of their own. On Hacienda Luisita: "We don't have a choice, it's already up to the Court. I feel bad because Luisita was very beautiful when I first met [husband] Peping [Cojuangco] in 1962."  — Amanda Fernandez/KBK, GMA News
