Palace appoints new Court of Appeals Associate Justice, DOTC USec

President Benigno Aquino III has appointed an Associate Justice to the Court of Appeals Tuesday, Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said in a briefing.

“We have the appointment of Honorable Edward B. Contreras as Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals,” he said.

Contreras replaces the Honorable Abraham Borreta, who passed away on 23 August 2012.

Contreras’ appointment papers were signed last March 1, according to Lacierda.

Aquino also appointed Julianito Bucayan Jr. as Undersecretary to the Department of Transportation and Communications.

Bucayan, who received his Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Naval Academy in Maryland, also earned a Master’s Degree in Computer Science at Ateneo de Manila. He was most recently the Vice President for Business Development of Philcox Philippines Inc.

Aquino signed Bucayan’s appointment January 23. His position is coterminous with the appointing authority. — Patricia Denise Chiu, BM, GMA News
