PAGASA: Summer coming, expect 35-degree heat

As the official start of summer draws closer, state weather forecasters advised the public Monday to brace for hot weather that could go up to 35 degrees Celsius in the coming days. PAGASA forecaster Elvie Enriquez said there was no weather disturbance near the Philippines, even as warm winds from the east affect the country's eastern section. "Narito na, malapit na malapit na. Pag nag-35 na, mainit na mainit, sasabayan ng napakataas na relative humidity," Enriquez said in an interview on dzBB radio. Earlier, PAGASA said it may declare the official start of summer anytime this week.

Meanwhile, PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin said rain was likely in parts of the country. "Cagayan Valley and the provinces of Aurora and Quezon, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao and CARAGA will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rain showers and thunderstorms," it said. It added Metro Manila and the rest of the country will be "partly cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms." Also, it said light to moderate winds from the east to southeast will prevail over Luzon and coming from the east to northeast over the rest of the country.
