Classes still suspended Tuesday in some NCR areas


(Updated 8:57 p.m.) Typhoon Labuyo (Utor) may be heading out of the country, but classes remain suspended in some parts of Metro Manila on Tuesday.

In Taguig City, the city government announced Monday evening there will still be no classes at the daycare to high school levels.

"Advisory Update: No classes tomorrow (Aug. 13, 2013) for  daycare, elementary and high school students in public and private schools," it said.

However, it said, all colleges and universities will have classes on Tuesday.

In Valenzuela City, the city government said there will be no classes citywide for daycare and preschool on Tuesday, in both public and private schools.

However, classes will resume Tuesday at the elementary and high school levels, it said.

Several cities in Metro Manila on Sunday night had announced the suspension of classes in various levels for Monday, in anticipation of heavy rain from Labuyo.

DepEd guidelines

The Department of Education's guidelines on suspension of classes include:

- Signal No. 1: No classes in kindergarten
- Signal No. 2: No classes in elementary and high school
- Signal No. 3: No classes in all levels including college — BM, GMA News
