Corona leaves after being booed at Million People March

Former Chief Justice Renato Corona showed up at the Million People March on Monday, only to leave after being booed by the crowd.

"Epal!" was what many of the protesters at Luneta called Corona, who left the anti-pork barrel march after the crowd made it clear he was not welcome there.

A separate report on dzRH radio said many of those at the rally surrounded Corona's vehicle while chanting "Epal, epal!"

However, the dzRH report also said some of Corona's supporters were at the site and engaged those booing Corona in a brief verbal confrontation.

"Si CJ, walang pork barrel. Ang mga nagpatalsik sa kanya, sila pala ang mga kawatan (Corona had no pork barrel but those who forced him out turned out to be the real crooks)!" the dzRH report quoted a Corona supporter as saying.

Before joining the protest, Corona was with his family at Manila Hotel. Asked why he was there, he said he wanted to join the citizens who were angered by the abuses of the Priority Development Assistance Fund, or pork barrel.

"Ako ay nakikiisa sa galit ng ating sambayanan. Sa mga abusong nangyayari in connection with this pork barrel at accountability of public officers sa kaban ng bayan," Corona told GMA News' Maki Pulido in a live report on GMA News TV's News to Go.

Corona also said the investigation should not be limited to PDAF during the Arroyo administration.

"Siguro dapat ang fair eh buksan lahat. Buksan lahat siguro. Bakit yung 2007 to 2009 lang? 'Yung 2010 up to the present, nasaan yun? Nasaan yung COA report noon?" Corona said.

In May 2012, Corona was convicted for betrayal of public trust and culpable violation of the Philippine Constitution.
