Intl community, private orgs get top marks for Yolanda relief work in SWS poll

The international community and private organizations got "excellent" marks for their role in relief work for victims of super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan), according to a new survey of pollster Social Weather Stations.

 

SWS on Tuesday said its survey conducted Dec. 11 to 16 showed local and national government agencies also got "very good" marks for relief efforts.

 

"Among Yolanda victims, net satisfaction with the present national administration was excellent on delivering medical help and delivering food and water, very good on providing temporary shelter and repairing infrastructures, and good on identifying those who died," the SWS said.

The SWS said that among non-victims, net satisfaction with the national administration was excellent on delivering medical help, very good on delivering food and water, providing temporary shelter, and repairing infrastructures, and good on identifying those who died.

 

It added that among non-victims, net satisfaction with relief efforts was excellent for foreign countries and private organizations, and very good for local and national government.

 

SWS classifies net satisfaction ratings of +70 and above as "excellent"; +50 to +69 as "very good"; +30 to +49 as "good"; +10 to +29 as "moderate", +9 to -9 as "neutral"; -10 to -29 as "poor"; -30 to -49 as "bad"; -50 to -69 as "very bad"; and -70 and below as "execrable".

 

The survey used face-to-face interviews of 1,550 adults in Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, with sampling error margins of ±2.5% for national percentages, ±4% for Visayas, and ±6% for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon and Mindanao.

 

Earlier, the December 2013 survey found 13 percent of households suffered serious harm (nasalanta) in the wake of Yolanda.  — ELR, GMA News
