Car almost hits baby's wake in Las Piñas


Two people were reported injured in a freak accident in Las Piñas City, where a car went out of control and nearly hit a funeral parlor where a wake for a baby was being held.

The car crashed into an adjacent store in Las Piñas City - and 
 
Monday's accident occurred at Pulang Lupa Uno in Las Piñas City, GMA News' Jun Veneracion reported on "24 Oras."
 
One of the injured was the baby's father Dan Christopher Apilado, who said he was just sitting when he suddenly saw the car's front end in front of him.
 
"Kaya napatalon ho ako," he said.
 
Witnesses said they saw the car going out of control and hit an Asian utility vehicle and a motorcycle before crashing into the store.
 
Antonio Dequiña said the driver claimed falling asleep at the wheel.
 
"Hinuli namain kasi tatakas," he said, adding the vehicle was speeding at the time of the accident.
 
Police bundled driver Madisor Sumuroy into a police vehicle to prevent him from being mobbed by locals.
 
Sumuroy claimed a tricycle cut in front of him, prompting him to swerve.
 
"Buti na hindi mabilis ang takbo ko kaya nakabig ko sa store na yun," he said.
 
He now faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting to multiple injuries and damage to property. —NB, GMA News
