PNoy considering Coloma as next civil service commission chair

President Benigno Aquino III on Wednesday confirmed that Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. was a candidate for the position of the next Civil Service Commission (CSC) chairman.

Asked during his inspection of a bus terminal if he was considering Coloma for CSC chief, Aquino said, “That is correct.”

The President, however, refused to confirm if Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) director General Joel Villanueva would take over Coloma’s current post, telling the media to “wait for the processes to be finished.”

“Hindi pa kumpleto ‘yung process. May kukunin, may mababakanteng puwesto. Gusto ko lahat kumpleto lahat. Kung may aalis sa isang puwesto, kailangan ‘yung papalit sa puwesto niya. Maitu-turnover na niya para minsanan ‘yung paglipat,” Aquino said.

Last February 2, CSC chairman Francisco Duque III stepped down after five years at the post to finish the unexpired term of his predecessor, Ricardo Saludo, who had failed to get the nod of the bicameral Commission on Appointments.

Aside from the CSC, President Aquino also has yet to appoint new heads for the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the Philippine National Police (PNP). —NB, GMA News
