PNP doctor axed over Nov '06 killing inside Camp Crame

The Philippine National Police dismissed from the service the police doctor who killed and hurt his colleagues in the PNP Health Service in November last year inside Camp Crame. Director Geary Barias of the PNP Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM) said Chief Inspector Renato Poscablo was found guilty of grave misconduct by a PNP internal investigating body over the Nov. 29 violent incident. Barias said Poscablo, who is currently detained at the Quezon City jail, was dismissed effective June 1 upon the approval of PNP chief Director General Oscar Calderon. "All benefits due him are also deemed forfeited," Barias said. Barias said the dismissal of Poscablo is without prejudice to the criminal cases for murder and frustrated murder filed against the suspect before the court. Poscablo shot his immediate superior at the PNP Health Service, Chief Superintendent Federico Damatac, before midnight of November 29 while the police unit was celebrating its 13th anniversary and inducting the officers of the PNP Medical Society. He also had a grenade that went off, killing one officer and hurting five others and himself. Damatac survived the shooting incident. Police believed that Poblasco was bitter against Damatac for causing his demotion due to several administrative charges he is facing. - GMANews.TV
