PNP shake-up starts Monday

A major revamp will be implemented at the Philippine National Police starting Monday that would affect at least 10 key positions, officials said Sunday. The shake-up, officials said, is aimed at streamlining the agency’s operations and filling up posts that would be vacated by retiring officers. A mass turnover will be held at various offices at Camp Crame, starting with the assumption into office of Chief Superintendent Raul Castaneda as chief of the PNP Intelligence Group and Chief Superintendent Romeo Ricardo as chief of the PNP Civil Security Group. Castaneda is the outgoing deputy chief for administration of the PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group while Ricardo is the outgoing chief of the PNP IG. Senior Superintendent Rolando Anonuevo, the PNP IG chief of directorial staff, will take over Castaneda’s post at the PNP CIDG while Senior Superintendent Ager Ontog, the chief of staff of the PNP Special Action Force, will assume Anonuevo’s post. Senior Superintendent Lani-o Nerez, former Pangasinan PNP provincial director, will be assigned as deputy chief for administration of PNP Region 7 office vice chief Superintendent Ronaldo Roderos, who will be designated as chief of the Philippine National Police Academy. Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Magtibay, former chief of staff of PNP Region 4a office will be designated as the police regional office’s deputy chief for administration while Senior Superintendent Rommel Heredia, deputy chief of operations of PNP IG, will be assigned as executive officer of the PNP Human Resource and Doctrine Development. Senior Superintendent Emelito Sarmiento, former chief of staff of PNP IG, will be assigned as chief of staff of the PNP CSG. Senior Superintendent Eric Javier, deputy chief for administration of the PNP National Capital Region Office is being eyed as replacement for Chief Superintendent Pedro Tango, incumbent chief of the NCRPO’s Northern Police District. Tango, on the other hand, is being groomed as replacement for Senior Superintendent Balligi Tira, officer in charge of the PNP Region 5 (Bicol) office. Outgoing PNP Region 5 office chief, Chief Superintendent Ricardo Padilla will reportedly be reassigned as PNP NCRPO deputy chief of administration, vice Javier. Except for the members of the PNP command group or the members of the PNP Directorial Staff, all senior officers who are occupying key positions and who are set to retire from the service within three month will be placed on non-duty status. There are at least 12 senior PNP officers that are set to retire this year, and they include Director Nicolas Pasinos, chief of the Directorate for Personnel and Records Management (July 22); Chief Superintendent Noe Wong, PNP comptroller (August 11); Chief Superintendent Raul Gonzales, chief of the Cordillera Administrative Region PNP office (August 17); Director Antonio Billones, PNP deputy chief for operations (August 22); Chief Superintendent Gerardo Hilomen, PNP Comel chief (Sept. 15); and Chief Supt. Arturo Nanas, chief of the Caraga PNP office (September 23). The other officers retiring this year are PNP chief Calderon (October 1); Chief Superintendent Napoleon delos Santos (October 7); Director Salvador Hizon (October 23); Chief Superintendent Wilfredo Garcia, PNP director for operations (November 5); Director Ernesto Belen, Director for Logistics (November 7) and Chief Superintendent Nicasio Radovan Jr, PNP Southern Tagalog office chief (November 8). - GMANews.TV
