Seaman falls prey to Ativan gang in Manila

Lured by the prospect of companionship on a lonely rainy night, a seaman became the latest victim of the Ativan Gang in Manila Tuesday night. Radio station dzBB reported that the Ativan Gang pulled off its act on Shane Pabricante, 24, by using a male member who posed as a "fellow seaman" who invited him to have dinner. Pabricante told the Manila Police District Theft and Robbery Section he lost ¥320,000 (P120,000) cash, a watch worth $150, and a cell phone and jewelry worth P82,000. However, he managed to identify the suspect from a photo gallery. The police identified the suspect as one Levi Tenorio. The incident took place at the corner of Quirino Avenue and Leon Guinto Streets in Manila's Malate district. Initial investigation showed Tenorio approached Pabricante and claimed to be a fellow seaman to gain his confidence, then invited him to dinner. During the meal, Pabricante said, he felt dizzy while drinking his coffee, and lost consciousness. When he woke up, he found himself in a taxi, his valuables gone. - GMANews.TV
