Iglesia minister Lowell Menorca II denies church holding his family against their will

Lowell Menorca II, the Iglesia ni Cristo minister whom his brother says was abducted and being held by the church against his will has denied the allegation.

According a report on "24 Oras Weekend" aired Sunday night, Menorca reached out to GMA News to clarify claims made by his brother Anthony, who is now in the Witness Protection Program.

Menorca, seen in the report with his wife and child, told GMA News that he asked the church leadership to allow him and his family to stay at the Iglesia ni Cristo compound on Central Avenue in Quezon City for their safety.

He said he is worried that Anthony does not know the real story behind the supposed abduction.

"Sana Anthony, bumalik ka na. Sana magkasama na tayo. At kung anuman ang sinasabi nila sa iyo, huwag mo silang paniwalaan. Ako ang paniwalaan mo," Lowell Menorca said.

In an earlier report, Anthony also alleged that had could not get in touch with Lowell, also known as Ka Boyet, who was arrested in Cavite on July 17 for supposedly threatening commuters with a hand grenade.

Lowell was released on July 25 after the complainants against him signed affidavits of desistance.
