A Japanese TV show has satirically reenacted how Philippine airport personnel supposedly plant bullets in travelers' bags in the laglag bala extortion racket.

A video of the TV show was posted on "Ikwento Mo Kay Delio" Facebook page on Thursday.

In the video, the host explained that bullets are found during the screening of the baggage. To confirm presence of the prohibited item, airport personnel will then open the bag.

Once the bullet has been retrieved, the host said that the airport staff will then try to extort money so the victim will skip the hassle of questioning and possible jail time.

It even showed footage of bags being wrapped in plastic.

Aside from the Japanese TV show, other international media have reported about the event. Hong Kong news sites HK Free Press and The Standard have published reports about the "laglag bala" scam.

Moreover, Fox News' anchor Greta Van Susteren has called out airport authorities and the perpetrators of the alleged bullet planting scam.

"What is wrong with some people?" she asked. —Trisha Macas/NB, GMA News
