'I COULD'VE DIED IF I DIDN'T TOUCH HER'

Duterte admits he was once charged with acts of lasciviousness

Presidential aspirant Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte—a confessed womanizer—has admitted on Thursday that he was once charged with acts of lasciviousness in his younger years.

“I was also charged with acts of lasciviousness. But you know the woman was really very, very beautiful that if you do not touch her, you will die. I was just saving my life,” he told Rotary Club members in Makati City.

When his father Vicente—the governor of the undivided Davao province then—learned about the complaint, he told his son that he would resign if it was true.

“If that complaint of the woman was true, I will resign from my position,” Duterte quoted his father.

Duterte explained that the complaint stemmed from pinching the arm of the woman. He said the cases didn't prosper.

Gabriela in a report on GMA News TV’s State of the Nation Address said that Duterte’s act was unacceptable.

“Sana ma-realize ni Mayor Duterte na hindi katanggap-tanggap ang manghawak ng babae kahit gaano pa man siya kaganda,” Gabriela secretary general Joms Salvador said.

Salvador also hoped Duterte will use his influence to raise more awareness on women's issues. —NB, GMA News
