About 800,000 join Cebu Eucharist procession


There is an increase in the number of Eucharistic devotees  over the years, said World Federation of the Church’s Eucharistic Works' Jose Angel Linares.

In Cebu City, a foot procession was held  Friday night from the Cebu provincial capitol building to Plaza independencia. Crowd estimate, according to police officials, was 800,000.

“Every year it grows and grows throughout the world,” Linares was quoted  in an article posted on the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP)  website.

Linares was in Cebu to attend the general assembly of the federation at the sidelines of the ongoing International Eucharistic Congress.

He added that more lay Eucharistic devotees from different countries have been seeking membership in the federation. — BAP/APG, GMA News
