Comelec launches election results website

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) launched on Sunday a public website that will show results of the May 9 elections.

Comelec spokesperson Director James Jimenez told radio dzBB in an interview that the website, www.pilipinaselectionresult2016.com, will be online once all polling precincts have closed at 5 p.m. Monday.

Once logged in, Filipinos can choose the area where official results have been transmitted from the provincial level down to the precinct level.

Jimenez said the website will feature a progress bar that will show the actual percentage of certificates of canvass counted by the Comelec.

The Comelec official, meanwhile, clarified that the data that will be shown on the results website will not be used for the actual canvassing of votes for president and vice president, which will be done by Congress.

Jimenez said the votes will not be ranked per candidate to avoid intrigues.

—Joseph Tristan Roxas/ALG, GMA News
