PNP chief is tough on criminals but has a soft side, too

Philippine National Police Director General Ronald dela Rosa is known to the public and his colleagues as "Bato (rock)," who strictly implements the anti-drugs and anti-criminality programs of President Rodrigo Duterte.

The police chief also has his soft side, especially with his family, GMA News' Mark Salazar reported on "State of the Nation with Jessica Soho" on Wednesday.

Dela Rosa's daughter Macky revealed during an interview with GMA News' Arnold Clavio and Susan Enriquez on GMA's "Unang Hirit," that her mother is the boss at their home.

"Malambing.... mabait, malambing, stick to one woman," Macky said, as Dela Rosa clapped his hands.

Dela Rosa said is close to his three children but he considers Macky his lucky charm. He explained that the birth date of Macky coincided with the number of his police badge or "Chapa."

Macky is also behind the viral photos of her father's baby picture.

"’Di ko alam na pinost niya, nakita ko na lang nandun na. Andun na, sige na, pabayaan mo na lang," Dela Rosa said.

The head of the police force also showed off his cooking skills on the GMA's morning show by cooking maruya or friend bananas. Coming from a poor family, this simple dish is his favorite snack.

In contrast, his wife who is from a well to do family would cook French Toast.

When asked for his reaction after he tasted the French Toast prepared by his wife, Dela Rosa quipped "Sinundan ko agad ng French Kiss." — Rie Takumi/BAP, GMA News
