Bongbong Marcos thanks Duterte for allowing father's burial at Libingan ng mga Bayani

Former Sen. Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. expressed his family's gratitude to President Rodrigo Duterte as arrangements have begun to be made for the burial of his father at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

The younger Marcos, who lost by a slim margin in the May vice presidential race, took to to Facebook to thank the President for allowing the burial, which is expected next month.

He said their late patriarch deserves a place at the Libingan as former president and a soldier.

He reiterated that a go-signal for the said burial is a unifying move, calling Duterte's pronouncement a "kind, rightful, and healing gesture."

"We are deeply grateful to President Rody Duterte for allowing the burial of the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani this September," read the statement, posted Sunday. — Rose-an Jessica Dioquino/VVP, GMA News
