Duterte to ISIS: I can be ten times as brutal

President Rodrigo Duterte said he could be ten times as brutal as the terrorist group ISIS in going after its members if they start sowing violence in the country.

"The next worry of course is terrorism. ISIS. They don’t have a political ideology. They don’t have concept of the risk. Iyong people, you maim the people, you kill them," Duterte said in a speech in Malacañang on Monday.

"And the women who refuse to have sex with them, they simply burn them. We have seen a barbaric practice and even cutting throats of people in front of the world," he added.

"Hindi ko malaman how to meet this kind. If you do that, you also bring out the worst in me. Bale, tabla tayo diyan. If you can do it, I can do it ten times better than you, definitely," Duterte said.

In a press conference on Friday in Davao City, Duterte said he had ordered the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to validate the presence of alleged ISIS indoctrinators in Mindanao.

He said he wanted them arrested and deported.

In a another speech before the troops in Zamboanga del Sur, Duterte told the military to prepare for ISIS' influence being felt in the country in three to seven years.

"Hindi naman ako nang-aano. I am just warning people, huwag ninyo sobrahan because I would never never allow my country to be destroyed by simply terrorism at itong droga. Hindi talaga ako papayag," Duterte said. —NB, GMA News
