Bato on preps for Nov. 30 rally: Will ask PNP priests to pray for rain

Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa said Monday they would not have any preparation for the upcoming anti-Marcos burial protest on November 30 except to ask their priests to pray for rain on that day.

"Ang aming preparation magtanong ka, require ko lahat ang mga pari ng Chaplain Service namin na to pray for rain," Dela Rosa said during a press conference.

"Magdasal yung pari na umulan para hindi sila makapag grupo. Lahat ng pari buong PNP," he added.

He said the police would not bar protesters from staging their rallies provided that they would not start any violence.

"We don't have to prepare for everything. We will give them all they want. They can have the streets, parks, plazas. Go ahead hindi namin sila haharangin provided huwag lang silang manggulo," he said.

Rain poured during last week's anti-Marcos burial rally but this did not stop protesters from going to Quirino Grandstand.

Dela Rosa said nothing significant happened during last Friday's protest rally. He believed the rain should be thanked for this.

"Sinabi ko lang sa Regional Director ng National Capital Region Police Office na 'i-text lang bok kapag merong significant incident, please text me para malaman ko.' Hanggang hatinggabi wala siyang text so walang problema. So far, so good, walang problema. Pasalamat sa ulan," he said. — Amita Legaspi/RSJ, GMA News
